Glad I could cheer you up.
Actually, just before this all blew up, I was gonna suggest M1sterMan as a mod for Bukkit. HE actually knows his shizz,
and he has a thick skin and a lot of experience. And a sense of humour. Unlike most of the incumbent glad-handing yes-men.
If you need a hand maintaining a forum, I'll volunteer, My Yggdrasyl server forum is almost dead now anyway...
As for the "Content getting around a ban".... that may bite MsI in the ass: she just put the link in her sig an hour ago.
And she has a post on the Recent Announcements page, so lots of folk should see it while it lasts...
I bet dinnerbone got flagged by that post from Seph, looked up and said "WTF?!"
As for virus content, none posted yet that I know of. Sorry if that was misleading.
But folks like puckerpluck (MultiInv Dev) are adding caveats warning that Bukkit don't look at the uploaded file,
just the meta-information. I think it's pretty widely known (I have to add, if they do put some scanning into it,
it'll have to stay opaque under-the-hood to prevent clever bastards from systematically circumventing it).
Curse: Screw them. They're a for-profit commercial hosting monolith without enough staff or brains.
And the rancid commercialism of "Author points" (see Bukkit Dev, then puke) is like icing on a turd.
They made major asses of themselves with the MC-Forums revamp, and I had no expectation that they
could or would make bukkit better. Hell, it *still* falls over daily, even with regular downtime.
But now we see why their content-hosting TOS is so wacky: So they can still host your plugin after
you get banned by a **********. (fill in blanks to own satisfaction).
Sorry I can't help with forking, I'm still a Java noob. But I'd whiz on a sparkplug if I thought it would help.
(That's a reference that Afforess would get, but Seph would not, BTW)
