Bukkit Moderators

I remember reading the official announcement of Drakia's banning and the reasons for why he was banned as well as what they were going to do to try to clean things up. My favorite part was how they were going to take care of other users who regularly caused problems and no matter how much help they offered (be it IRC or on the forums), they would also be banned. 2 names came to my mind when that was said. The first would be SwearWord and the second would be Nijikokun. In the first case you have a foul mouthed kid who would rather call people names than help them with something. In the second is one of the people who I think really helped with the decline of the forums in the first place. Both are just my opinion though. Both opinions offered to the Bukkit admins in multiple private messages as well as supporting information.

Now we fast forward to a couple hours ago and we find that SwearWord is now a moderator. I guess the next thing we will see is for Niji to get a promotion too.

Woah woah woah, SwearWord is a moderator? Holy fuck, that guy is such a troll, I came into the IRC channel once asking about why I was banned at a webserver level (It was an accident) and all he did was call me names and say I deserved it. Talk about decline in community quality...

I've watched SwearWord on IRC some over the past few months and he has surprisingly been helpful but I would really think his history on the forums would be weighed heavily against any helping he may have done on IRC when he is being offered a moderator position on the forums. I wish I knew more about the other 2 people they promoted so far but I haven't been following them.

It looks like the other 3 new moderators were really good choices. They seem to be very helpful.

md_5 is a nice chap He was really helpful with a few Deadbolt issues (I supported it from the start).
Keen as mustard, involved in a buncha projects, and well mannered.
NuclearW is a wise old hand too, so I reckon they've made at least 2 good choices IMHO.

The infraction system doesn't really do anything other than whoever receiving the warning getting a NICE LONG RED BAR BELOW their posts.

I think the infraction system is their new ranking system, now the dev tags are gone.
The more the merrier, I say, infractions for all. Ho Ho Ho! (We have to catch up to their moderators...)

I hope y'all excuse me for playing a straight bat, but the latest business with Bukkit has me fuming.
Swearword said MrMan "started a thread that was inches away from Child Pornography".
That smears everyone in the thread.
The thread has since vanished.
I never saw anything there that would qualify, what did I miss?
I complained rather vociferously on another rather unrelated thread in OffTopic.
Interestingly enough, I got a polite response from another Mod. I do believe NuclearW has more than a grain of sense.
It is likely I will make a more formal complaint through proper channels.
Accusing folk of pandering to paedophilia is an astonisingly low tactic.

SwearWord is just trying to pretend to be intelligent and show that he can be a respected member of the forums but that just won't happen until he grows up. It is just unfortunate for him that there are too many people who remember his nasty posts from the past for him to fix his reputation by letting someone else write a long response to one of the posts trying to act like a moderator. He really was a bad choice for a moderator.

And more unhelpful posts from the people who deserve infractions and still none given to them. There is even a picture only response in the Offtopic/Off Topic thread that still hasn't received an infraction and probably won't.
